Walking Through the White House—Twice

I never imagined I’d walk the halls of the White House once, let alone twice.

And yet—this December, I had the honor of attending the White House Holiday Open House, surrounded by lights, history, and a deep sense of belonging.

Over 20 years ago, I first stepped into this House of the People shortly after 9/11. I was a student filled with hope, representing my community through the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. That visit taught me about resilience. This one reminded me of legacy.

Returning now, two decades later, felt surreal.
Because of the inspiring leadership of Antonio Tijerino.
Because of the unwavering work of the HHF team.
Because of the friendships that have sustained me.
Because of mentors like Karen Guggenheim, who stood beside me once again.

The lights, the holiday decor, the warmth of this historic place—it all left me in awe.

As a Latina changemaker, standing in that space again, I felt proud. I felt seen. I felt like I belonged.

This was a full-circle moment.
A reminder of how far we’ve come—and the doors that open when we lead with purpose, community, and identity.

To Tony, Karen, and the entire HHF familia:
Thank you for making this memory one I will carry forever.

✨ Wishing a Merry Christmas to those who celebrate,
Happy Holidays to all, and peace, joy, and lots of SPARKLE in this season of light. ✨
